Boyd Hill Camp Out

Troop 219 will camp at Boyd Hill Nature Park in St. Petersburg. This will be an excellent opportunity for rank advancement and to earn 8 service hours which is required for the Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge. The scouts also plan to cook a special dinner on Saturday night and parents are invited.

The fee is $25 per scout and this will cover the camping and food costs for the weekend. For parents, the first parent is paid for by the troop and the second parent fee will be $15 to cover food costs. Please be sure to make your payments to Curtis Cruise or our Troop Treasurer.

Additional Information on the event:

  • Mr. Tomalin will be providing maps for everyone at the next meeting.
  • Josh Jacobs has volunteered as Grubmaster
  • Meals included: 1 Hot Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner, and 1 Cold Breakfast
  • Mr Carlisle may take some scouts to the airport to work on their aviation merit badge
  • Mr. Tomalin has arranged for some public service hours for Saturday and Sunday. Scouts will help spread new sand at the Birds of Prey Exhibit.
  • Scouts will have the opportunity to complete a big chunk of their Birding merit badge
  • Our contact on the ground, Jason Cowen, is a certified merit badge counselor.

This form is recommended for unit use to obtain approval and consent for Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Venturers, and guests (if applicable) under 21 years of age to participate in a den, pack, team, troop, or crew trip, expedition, or activity. This form is required for use with flying plans and should be attached to the flying plan application. It is recommended that parents keep a copy of the form and contact the tour leader in the event of any questions or in case emergency contact is needed. I understand that participation in Scouting activities involves a certain degree of
risk and can be physically, mentally, and emotionally demanding. I have carefully
considered the risk involved and have given consent for myself or my child to
participate in this activity. I also understand that participation in this activity is
entirely voluntary and requires participants to abide by applicable rules and
standards of conduct. I release the Boy Scouts of America, the local council, the
activity coordinators, and all employees, volunteers, related parties, or other
organizations associated with the activity from any and all claims or liability arising
out of this participation.

In case of emergency involving my child, I understand every effort will be made to
contact me. In the event I cannot be reached, I hereby give my permission to the
medical provider selected by the adult leader in charge to secure proper treatment,
including hospitalization, anesthesia, surgery, or injections of medication for my
child. Medical providers are authorized to disclose to the adult in charge
examination findings, test results, and treatment provided for purposes of medical
evaluation of the participant, follow-up and communication with the participant’s
parents or guardian, and/or determination of the participant’s ability to continue in
the program activities.

As the parent or legal guardian of following scout(s) (registrants), I hereby give my permission for him/them to participate in the following outing with Boy Scout Troop 219.

I give permission to the leaders of Troop 219 to render First Aid on the registered Scout(s), should the need arise.  In the event of an emergency, I also give permission to the physician, selected by the adult leader in charge, to hospitalize, secure proper anesthesia, order injection, or secure other medical treatment, as needed.

I further agree to hold Troop 219 and its leaders blameless for any accidents that might occur during this outing, except for clear acts of negligence or non-adherence to BSA policies and guidelines.
